Virtual Art Experience, july 2020
Omote (面)—meaning surface, exterior, or front—represents the public face that is visible to others, the outward expression of what seems to be happening.
Ura (裏)—meaning bottom, inside, or back—embodies the private, hidden, and enigmatic side of all beings, concealed from the outside world.
The music and choreography of Omote Ura were conceived and composed exclusively for a VR format. Through this immersive experience blending traditional dance and contemporary music, we follow the journey of a traditional Japanese dancer. Omote and Ura—the two inseparable facets of her identity—interact and respond to one another in a poetic dialogue. Each intertwines, guided by the musicians, weaving a delicate dance of sound and movement.
The piece was filmed and developed for VR goggles. Please contact us for more details about this production. ( link to contact)
