Kyoto station, Nuit Blanche 2020

Venue: Kyoto Station Building, Station Square (Nuit Blanche Kyoto 2020)
Date: October 1, 2020

Organized by: N’SO KYOTO
Co-organized by: Institut Français Kansai

This spatialized musical performance blends clarinet, cello, percussion, electronic music, dance, and live visuals to explore the relationship between electricity and its profound impact on society. Like blood coursing through the veins of a city, electricity—composed of simple electrons—has evolved into an intricate and indispensable network that underpins modern technology and civilization. The audience is immersed in a four-speaker surround sound setup, where each instrument—clarinet, cello, percussion, and electronic music—creates a dynamic auditory experience. Carefully designed echoes, delays, and directional sound effects enhance the performance’s depth, drawing listeners into an electrifying sonic and visual journey.

Performers:

Clarinet, Bass Clarinet: Mami Nakamura
Cello: William Prunkl
Dance: Kitamari
Percussion, Electronic Music, Composition: Yannick Paget
Live Visuals: Sagar Patel
