Alexandre Ferdinand Maubert is a French artist based in Kyoto since 2012. His practice spans across video art, performing arts, mixed-media installations, and music production. His journey in Japan began with an artist residency at Villa Kujoyama, a program managed by the Institut Français, which deepened his engagement with Japanese culture and artistic expression.
Maubert studied cinema at Université Louis Lumière before being selected for the prestigious National Photography School in Arles. He later joined the postgraduate program at Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains. His work has been acquired by both public and private collections and exhibited internationally in galleries, museums, and festivals, including the Mori Art Museum (Tokyo, 2016), FILUX Festival (Mexico City, 2014), MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art (Rome, 2013), Rencontres d’Arles (2012), and the New York Photo Festival (2010), among others.
Since 2014, Maubert has been represented in Japan by MORI YU Gallery.
