N’SO Kyoto solo cellist William Prunkl studied literature in New York and cello at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest before coming to Kyoto as a Monbugakusho Fellow in 2001. He teaches cello at his renovated Kyoto townhouse, and performs with artists of various genres throughout Japan. Recently, his duo Pájaro Rojo with guitarist Hiroaki Takai released their first album, “Arco Iris,” and his translation of Hiroki Kiyokawa’s treatise “The Spirituality of Kintsugi” was published by Tankosha Press.
